The buzz: The city’s newest karaoke joint is the latest brainchild of green tea tycoon Tan, who’s looking to break into an already crowded market with a unique concept: ghetto-street meets theme-room karaoke.

The décor: Located at the other end of grungy club Demo, YES!!R&B takes over the first three floors of a deserted, ramshackle building. The factory-like reception area sees a glass elevator and a porch with a couple of tables and chairs. The décor gets interesting on the second and third floors with karaoke rooms decked out in a variety of offbeat themes like win motorsai (motorbike taxi stand), likay theater, bathroom and tour bus. Each room has its own balcony for smokers and phone talkers.

The music: Pretty much anything you fancy singing/hearing. The karaoke system boasts over 100,000 local and international songs, which are updated every week.

The crowd: After work crowd from the neighborhood. The weekends see families and groups of karaoke-craving uni friends.

The price: Cocktails B140-350, beer B95-250, whiskey B1,200. Mixers B60, kamikaze B300/jug. Glab glaem starts from B80-320, single dishes B120-140. Alternatively, pay B399 per person to indulge in food buffet from 5:30pm-9:30pm. As part of the buffet you can also sing your heart out for free all the way until 10pm, then it’s B400, B600 and B800 an hour for the S, M, L rooms respectively.

Why you’ll come back: Because you want to take advantage of the buffet promotion while it lasts, plus we’ve not come across another karaoke joint in town that’s quite this fun and creative.
