Sushi Niwa
This Phloen Chit omakase restaurant sits in a grand glasshouse.
In-the-know foodies are already filling up Instagram with snaps from this city’s latest omakase restaurant.
Sushi Niwa is the newest venture from the owner of chain Japanese fusion restaurant Kouen Sushi, whose ex-head chef Somporn Chaibuadaeng helms the kitchen here.
Inside a minimalist house, he slices and dices fresh kuruma ebi (tiger prawn) and grilled braised anago (saltwater eel), while an attached glasshouse serves as a bar.
As part of the soft opening, a 16-course omakase meal is B4,900 until Aug 26 (after which it’s B6,500).
The restaurant will also announce its grand opening with a round of dinners by Hiroki Nakanoue, of Osaka’s two-starred Sushi Yoshi, from Aug 30-Sep 9, with prices jumping to B10,000 and above.
