Safe House
The buzz: Demo was the first to break the rules and kick start Thonglor’s late-night scene. But there is a new kid on the block, handily located right behind Demo (and which can also be accessed from Ekkamai Soi 7). The ironically-named Safe House has adopted the same music concept as Demo and continues the rebellion against silly closing hours with its super-underground vibe, grungy décor and late clubbing.
The décor: This old building looks like a former gentlemen’s lounge on the outside, if it weren’t for graffiti sprayed all over the walls. The entrance is a small meeting room with luxurious Louis XIV-inspired sofas and blue lighting that make you feel like you’re in Tron. Once inside, the spacious dance floor gives you plenty of room to get down.
The music: The folks behind Demo’s parties (like the AKA) are spinning here, too. You’ll get an earful of nu-disco, electronic, house, tech and some hip hop.
The crowd: Pretty, young and chic. It’s the typical Thonglor-Ekkamai crowd.
The price: Whiskey starts from B1,700 by the bottle. Beer B200-220 by the bottle. Mixers B80.
Why you’ll come back: More dancing, more booze and no reason to end your party early. Vasachol Quadri
