New mega-mall in western Bangkok brings big brands to the outer city
The area’s biggest lifestyle hub has just received a massive makeover. Here are the highlights.
Shopping isn’t the pastime it used to be. Gone are the days you would go to the mall just for clothes or wander through stores that only cater to one type of shopper.
Bangkok malls have become fully integrated destinations—places to eat mouth-watering dishes from around the world, catch the latest blockbuster, party with friends, check out concerts, hit the gym, or go for a stroll with your pets. The best of them? They do all this and more. Some even bring the outside in, incorporating waterfalls, artwork, and lush plants that turn blasé mallscapes into surprisingly green environments.
With the opening of The Mall Lifestore Bangkae, western Bangkok’s leading lifestyle hub has taken this concept to new heights.
Bangkae has enjoyed a jolt of new energy ever since the MRT Blue Line expanded its services to Bangkok’s westernmost district—one of the fastest growing in the city.
With the neighborhood changing so quickly, The Mall Group stepped up to elevate everyday life for Bangkae residents.
Connected to MRT Lak Song via walkway, The Mall Lifestore Bangkae blurs the line between shopping and entertainment. But not just for one age group alone. After a serious facelift, the former department store now has something for every generation.
The Mall Group has joined forces with over 10,000 brands, ranging from fashion, beauty, and lifestyle to technology, health and wellness, financial services, and more.
Here are seven of the biggest changes you can expect to find. Or the seven “wonders,” if you will, that make it a great place to go whether you’re a young family spending time with your parents and grandparents or you’re out for a good time with your friends.
For starters, the new space looks nothing like your standard department store. The renovations filled 1,200sqm of the indoor landscape with splashes of green. Think waterfalls landing in a ground-level pool surrounded by palms, vines, and monstera plants. This nature-centric space is sure to become a popular place for events.
Beyond the lush new look, The Mall Lifestore Bangkae now aims to be the place to eat in the district. Want sushi, shabu, Korean, ramen? There are 500 restaurants or stalls to choose from here.
Forget just going to the cinema. Sure, the Mall Lifestore Bangkae has eight SF cinemas equipped with Sony digital 4K screens, but it also has a Mega Harborland—a water park that includes a themed zone ideal for toddlers and teens alike, plus an outdoor space that boasts Thailand’s longest water slide—a fully loaded Fitness First gym, and an arts and crafts zone for engaging hands-on activities.
Of course, retail therapy still matters. The new Lifestore has everything a modern shopper needs, from street fashion to sports gear and activewear to cosmetics and luxury goods. Gentlewoman, Birkenstock, Muji, Adidas, JD Sport, Garmin, H&M. Think of a brand, and you’ll probably find it here.
Maybe you can’t travel to Tokyo every weekend—or schlep it across town to Thonglor—but you have the next best thing with The Mall Lifestore Bangkae’s Japan-inspired lifestyle zone. Shop for household items and fashion at Muji, then have an iced latte in the Muji Café. Find a timeless fashion item at Uniqlo, then feast on donburi. It’s all here.
Expect more concerts and celebrity meet and greets to hit western Bangkok, courtesy of the 6,000 sqm MCC Hall. Every day of the week, you’ll find something to love here.
For decades, Bangkok didn’t cater to pet owners in the slightest. Those days are long gone. All furry, four-legged friends are welcome at The Mall Lifestore Bangkae.
Let them roam at M Green Park pet playground at the mall entrance, where toilets and shady areas are available. Inside, make use of the pet trolleys to wander in air-conditioned comfort.
