When it comes to flying to Samui, Bangkok Airways is really the only game in town. But, now, Bangkok vacationers, right in time for Songkran, have an option to take a 24-hour cruise, complete with rooms, restaurant, if you’re going to splurge, a jacuzzi tub.

 

The Seahorse Ferry departs from Saengthong Warehouse at 5:30pm and arrives at 5pm the next day. Travelers can opt for a simple B1,500 seat per person—which might seem a little eccentric considering the flights are about B4,400 and only take an hour—but you can also upgrade to a capsule, room, or suite. 

 

Capsules start at B3,500, and the surprisingly spacious Deluxe room starts at B14,000 for two (sans private bathroom). The big upgrade is the jacuzzi suite, which you can grab for B25,000, for the plushest digs on the ferry, and you can bring your car along, gratis. The “jacuzzi” isn’t likely to blow you away, but it’s a big room for two. Other offerings include a Family room for four at B20,000 and a suite for two at 22,000. 

 

The ferry is fitted to carry 400 passengers and 200 vehicles, and if you want to bring your ride along to explore Samui, cars and vans can climb aboard for B2,500 and motorcycles for B1,500.

 

The Seahorse Ferry leaves every week, and is a pretty good choice to avoid the hassle of flying and do the whole “slow travel” thing while checking out the Gulf of Thailand from the deck. It’s not like Bangkok Airways will let you chill on the wing for a bit—no matter how many times you ask.
