Luka Moto
A brunch favorite arrives on Thonglor.
The follow up to Sathorn's Luka will have you eating your breakfast burrito while lusting over retro-style big bikes thanks to a partnership with BMW. Feast on carb-heavy creations like “Gangnam style” crunchy chicken thigh on a kimchi waffle with poached egg and gojuchang ketchup or the perfectly sweet and savory French toast with bacon, grilled banana and syrup. And if you want to skip on the coffee, they’ll even pour you punchy bloody Mary.
The buzz: Thonglor’s handsome new cafe is the follow up to Sathorn’s well-established brunch spot Luka. But where the original eatery matched food and Casa Pagoda’s fine furniture, Luka Moto’s MF Motorrad collaboration will have you eating your breakfast burrito while lusting over retro-style big bikes.
The decor: Industrial softened by classic embellishments like wood shutters, deep green cushions and a copper tinge to the room that’s part fixtures, accent lighting and papery window shades. The cafe centerpieces are the BMW motorbikes hulking in corners, and it’s not all show: Luka Moto’s also hosting regular bike care workshops, test ride sessions and showcases of custom-made machines.
The food: The menu, for now, is the same as the original location’s but pared of the specials. Pan Road regulars will recognize the “Gangnam style” crunchy chicken thigh served on a kimchi waffle with a poached egg and gojuchang ketchup (B270). Also back are the breakfast burritos stacked full of porky goodness from Sloane’s and tangy sauces (B310), and the perfectly sweet and savory French toast topped with bacon, grilled banana and syrup (B250).
The drinks: We love the green tea latte (B130) that matches Malou matcha with salted caramel, and of the list of brunch cocktails we stand by our bleary-Sunday-morning favorite: the espresso martini (B240), which combines a double shot with caramel and Grey Goose and is served low-key a coffee mug.
The crowd: The intimate setting means fewer families, more small groups, and, of course, big bike devotees in racing leathers and dark glasses.
Why you should care: Thonglorites bored with Roast finally have a reason to branch out with their brunch game.
