BANGKOK BAR

Le Bar by Le Beaulieu

The buzz: Le Beaulieu is most famous for the fine French cooking of its chef, Herve Frerard, who placed second in Top Tables 2013. Last year, his restaurant opened a charming outdoor terrace called LB Terrasse. Since then, it’s been converted into a conservatory and rebranded as a Veuve Clicquot Champagne lounge, thereby joining a growing trend (there is also a Dom Perignon lounge at 661 Silom).

The décor: Chic and sleek. There are now two bars, with one of them also acting as an open kitchen for the small bites menu which has finally been rolled out. Due to the branding, the overall color is now orange and black while the rattan chairs and a small outdoor section remain.

The music: DJs spinning electro lounge and funky house on Fri-Sat.

The crowd: Le Beaulieu customers and VIP guests, meaning they could be hunting on the grounds of such Hiso watering holes as Four Season’s Aqua.

The menu: The signature Champagne cocktails are created by French mixologist Mathieu Lapipe who mixes choices like La Vie En Rose (Veuve Clicquot Brut, Tanqueray, Aperal and grape, B795) and the French 75 (Veuve Clicquot, Hennesy and elder flower liquor, B795). For food, you’ll find French answer to tapas or even hearty bistro dishes: battered violet artichoke served with spicy andouille sausage (B250) or wagyu beef burger with homemade fries (B490).

Why you’ll come back: Right now Ladies get a choice of a complimentary glass of Veuve Clicquot Rose or two cocktails on Friday night and access to Le Beaulieu’s dessert bar from 5:30-9:30pm.
