Good Question
The buzz: On the second floor of Ari’s Fondue House, Good Question brings us a high-ceilinged open space to enjoy live performances at reasonable decibel levels. Neighboring restaurants Flow and Fondue House supply the food so you can order dishes as esoteric as escargot or staples like grilled pork neck.
The décor: A neon blue aura lines the walls of this dark, dim, cavernous attic. For some light, head to the bar and pool table; or settle on the ample couches by the live band, basking in the faint glow of the saltwater fish tank. A balcony overlooking a courtyard is an other option if you want to enjoy the view of the pool and gardens below.
The music: Two live bands perform daily from 7-8:30pm and 9-11pm. During the downtime a DJ spins downtempo beats.
The crowd: Ebbs and flows depending on who is playing, and is generally pretty quiet during the week. Expect Ari locals: beauty young ladies, after-work guys and the occasional farang.
The price: Cocktails range from B150-240 and feature many classics like Sex on the Beach (B180) and martinis (B220); Beer is limited to domestics like Singa (B100). Take advantage of the B500 all-you-can-drink pool special, where you get free-flow San Miguel Light all night. Hungry? You can order fancy dishes from Flow and Fondue: tournedos Rossini (B350) or escargot in butter sauce (320). They also stock more casual items, though, such as grilled pork neck with spicy sauce (B150) or fried chicken with lime sauce (B150).
Why you’ll come back: While Good Question isn’t particularly chic (despite the big, pretentious house), its big couches, decent music, conversation-friendly levels and varied food make it a good spot to kick back after work. Cole Pennington
