Giglio Trattoria Fiorentina
The folks behind Appia and Peppina return with a Tuscan restaurant in the heart of Sathorn.
Chefs Manuelo Pintore (La Bottega di Luca, Peppina) and Paolo Vitaletti (Appia, Peppina) have joined forces to serve up traditional dishes of the Tuscan hills in a classic-looking Italian trattoria.
Named after the Florentine lily, Giglio takes over the space previously occupied by Lady Brett. Inside, wooden tables and chairs fill out a room surrounded by floor-to-ceiling windows partially covered with low hanging curtains. Sage-color banquets line cream-tiled walls decorated with old prints and pictures. Altogether, the décor creates a warm and inviting vibe.
The restaurant focuses on the simple, classic cooking of Italy’s largest region in stellar dishes like pici al ragu di salsiccia (hand-rolled strands of pasta tossed in sausage and porcini ragu B360), and the timeless panzanella (B250), a refreshing salad of tomato, cucumber, celery and toasted Tuscan bread. For something truly soul-soothing, go for la ribollita (B220), a hearty soup of beans, black kale, vegetables and Tuscan bread, or try the arista (B380), a roasted pork rack served with aromatic rosemary potatoes.
Tuscan wine is just as renowned as its cuisine, and at Giglio, the list solely features wines of this region, from rosé to red. Start with a glass of the crisp Sauvignon Vioner il Blanco 2018 (B255/glass) and then move on to a smooth red like the Chianti Classico Peppoli 2017 (B300/glass). Since you can’t technically drink alcohol at the moment, sip on one of their refreshing pressed juices, like the passion fruit orange or watermelon basil, both B140.
