Huus of Bread
This Japanese-Scandinavian bakery introduces Bangkok to “sho-nuts.”
Set around the corner from Summer Hill, this three-story spot with a decidedly minimal vibe eschews the cafe label, preferring instead to be known as simply a bakery.
Huus of Bread (house in Swedish) adorns itself stylishly with sleek furniture and off-white walls with brown and blue accents. The specialty at this Instagram hotspot are sho-nuts.
If you’re wondering what, exactly, a sho-nut is, it’s a cross between Japanese milk bread (shokupan) and donut. While it might look identical to your classic sugar-coated donuts, it’s softer, chewier, and super-dense in texture.
Go for the lemon curd sho-nut (B85) for a sour-yet-sweet, citrus-filled kick. For richer bites, try the chocolate sho-nut (B90) or bittersweet matcha sho-nut (B95). If you want to take a break from ooey-gooey layers, there’s the OG shokupan plain bread (B120) and fluffy, milky cranberry-flavored shokupan (B130).
For drinks, go for a coffee made with specialty beans from Saphan Kwai’s Sleep Enemy, or try a signature, like the refreshing, lemon-and-espresso Caffeine Lemon (B130).
